Morton Solar & Electric announces “Solar is for Everyone” group purchase and educational events to be held in various counties throughout the tri-state region. The program is unique in a way that it will offer the opportunity for citizens to install solar energy systems at group discounted rates, and provide a mechanism to extend solar energy benefits to low-income housing in the tri-state.

The first event will be held at the Welborn Community Room located on the top floor of the Fifth Third Bank building in downtown Evansville, on January 21st at 10:00am. Additional dates and locations will be announced in the near future.

Solar Educational Presentation

The program will focus on how solar energy systems work, and explain the financial and security benefits of owning your own clean energy power plant. Battery storage systems such as the Tesla Powerwall will also be discussed and demonstrated.

The topics of discussion will include the EDG Rate for residential customers in Indiana and how to optimize design of solar energy systems to maximize return on investment under this program.

CAPE selected as low-income partner

Last year, Morton Solar donated two solar energy systems to CAPE (Community Action Program of Evansville) and hopes to install as many systems as possible to low-income housing opportunities in the future. For every 50 systems installed through "Solar is for Everyone", Morton Solar will donate a 3KW system to CAPE to be installed on a low income designed housing unit. Originally under the auspices of the city of Evansville, CAPE became a non-profit corporation in 1970. CAPE is governed by a tri-partite Board of Directors consisting of representatives from the private and public sector as well as the communities served. ABOUT MORTON SOLAR - Morton Solar is one of the oldest solar energy contractors in Indiana. Our efforts laid the foundation for an entire solar industry to build upon in our state. We developed and built the very first solar energy projects in Indiana at a time when most doubted the viability of solar in our region. The trials and tribulations of executing these projects through obstacles and obstruction led to the passing of an expanded net-metering law which created over one thousand jobs in our state, saved customers millions of dollars in electricity costs, and reduced CO2 emissions by thousands of tons. All of this from inside of the heart of Indiana’s coal industry which emits more CO2 per capita than any other region of the United States.
